Step 1 - Download

NuPlay is a brand new partial open-source application for creating LIVE 3D audio/video performances and interactive installations. It can be used to combine music and visuals in a very direct way. Using all kinds of interfaces to control the 3D visuals and audio.

NuPlay consist of a set of software tools (open-source GPL license) for hooking up all kind of devices (MIDI, audio analysis / FFT, arduino / RFID, Reactvision / tag detection, gamecontrollers / wiimote) and a modification of the Quake 4 engine (Quake4 SDK license).

With NuPlay you can start performing in a split second with out-of-the-box examples. Go to the download page for all the instructions how to install NuPlay.

NuPlay is a concept by Daniël van Gils and produced by kamerblauwlicht together with the NuPlay foundation.

Step 2 - Play

You have installed NuPlay on your computer and after playing around a bit (or sick of playing Quake 4 for two weeks in a row) you want to create cool interactive stuff with NuPlay. This is the place to find all the information you need. We created a bunch of manuals for all kind of questions, solutions and tutorials.

Also technical specifications and design documents can be found in the manuals on this website. Questions about and additions to the manuals can be posted directly under each chapter (soon). And now go play and create!

If you want to learn NuPlay as soon as possible, why not join one of our masterclasses. If you want to organise a NuPlay masterclass/talk/workshop, contact us at masterclass@nuplay.org. Check the upcoming masterclasses below:
